Week 12: Thursday Matchups

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Lets take a look at the games that are up today.

New England @ Detroit

Detroit’s 2 wins have both come at home this year, but dont bet on that being the case against the Patriots. New England looks to be past their losing to crappy home teams phase. NE 32 – DET 17

Play – Tom Brady, Danny Woodhead, Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis, NE Def, Calvin Johnson, Brandon Pettigrew

Maybe – Brandon Tate, Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez, Gronkowski, Shaun Hill, Nate Burelson

Nope- Jahvid Best, Maurice Morris, DET Def

New Orleans @ Dallas

Battle of the 2010 underachievers. New Orleans is confident that Reggie Bush will finally take the field, Cowboys learned that Tony Romo is expected to miss at least 3 more weeks. Not just because I am a Cowboys fan, but because they are going to be playing in front of an electric thanksgiving day crowd and have been on a relative hot streak.. DAL 38 – NO 34

Play – Drew Brees, Marques Colston, Jason Witten, Dez Bryant, Miles Austin

Maybe – Jeremy Shockey, Chris Ivory, Reggie Bush, Lance Moore, Robert Meachem, Jon Kitna, Marion Barber

Nope – Both DEFs

Cincinnati @ New York Jets

Thanksgiving gets a new night game at the Bengals take their sorry asses to the Jets. Jets have the record at home to be heavy favorites in this one, but I think Cincy FINALLY cleans up their act a bit, shocking a surprisingly anemic Jets offense. CIN 24 – NYJ 17

Play – Santonio Holmes, LaDainian Tomlinson, Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco, CIN Def, Carson Palmer

Maybe – Braylon Edwards, Mark Sanchez, Dustin Keller, NYJ Def, Cedric Benson, Jordan Shipley

Nope – Jericho Cotchery, Shonne Greene, Jermaine Gresham

Thats all. I’ll be back Saturday to field questions about the remaining week 12 games.

Hey there! If you’re offering advice for Sunday games here’s my roster:

    Qb-A Rodgers
    Wr1-g Jennings
    Wr2-a johnson
    Rb1-r mendenhall
    Rb2-k Williams (WAS)
    W/r-santanna moss
    Te-j tame
    K-r bironas
    Def- ny jets

Anything I can fix? I’m insecure about my flex with santanna moss’s injury…I have Blount but I don’t like his matchup with Baltimore. I also have marshawn lynch and malcom Floyd who is also injured. Any pickups you reccomend over who i have on my roster? Whattdaya think? And my defense rocked this week haha look forward to your advice

    • I’m liking the lineup. And if Moss plays, he has a decent chance to do something impressive. Some decent fillins that might be available would be Tolbert (81%), Goodson (49%), s. rice (67%.. if he plays), vincent jackson (75%).. and just for the hell of it, i’m going to throw ben obomanu’s name out there. slot receiver for SEA that has started showing up in the past 2 weeks.

all that said.. unless jackson is available, i’d probably see if moss can go gametime. if so, play him. blount has a rough matchup, and you cant rely on either of your other two.

Q1: QB – B Roethlisberger vs Buffalo or M Vick vs Chicago?

    Q2: WR – Pick 2
    Mike Williams vs Baltimore
    DeSean Jackson vs Chicago
    Vincent Jackson vs Indianapolis

    • I’d go Vick against Chicago.

Williams and D Jax would be my plays at WR. V Jax is in his first week back, so we’ll take this week to look at him. Better matchups for your other two anyways.

  3. Sox

No worries if y’all aren’t around.

    My WRs for the weekend:
    WR1 Steve Johnson
    WR2 Blair White
    WR3 Garcon, Jones, or Hagan?

    • I’m no fan of B White. This has been made apparent in past articles. I think Garcon is a better play than him.
Jones has a chance, but Driver is listed as probable. Hagan is actually a hell of a sleeper here. With Nicks and Smith being out, Hagan could see some action this week… but he is incredibly unproven. If you are going to gamble on anyone, i’d make it him.
      Johnson, White, Garcon
      or
Johnson, Garcon, Hagan would be my call.

I posted for advice earlier at the top of the comments. Here’s my dilemma with everything you reccomended:

    * V Jax got drafted in the late late rounds, i dropped sidney rice after 3 weeks of no play and hearing multiple reports he might not play for the season, good son got snatched right after runnign all over Baltimore, and i packaged tolbert in a trade to get Rashard Mendenhall.

So should I wait to see if Moss is active for his game and if not should I start Floyd, Blount or should I pick up Obamanu…? Let me know bro

  5. ok… obamanu is a hell of a stretch..
with nicks and smith out for nyg, derek hagan has become their top receiver threat, so check him out maybe.

since goodson got snatched right after running over Baltimore, maybe it is a little wiser than previously thought to start Blount, who is going up against them now.

I’d wait to see if Moss is active, but if there was ever a time I would recommend picking up a sleeper and running with him, it would be now. Hagan is probably safer, since that is a great matchup.

OK now I am confused on what to do. Marshall is injured and it seems like Boldin is fading as a good play. Here are my receivers which three should I play in a PPR league? I am kind of leaning towards the top three.

    Anquan Boldin
    Brandon Lloyd
    Vincent Jackson
    Mike Thomas
    Nate Washington
    Brandon Marshall

Also which Def Cleveland or Green Bay?

    • I’d have to agree with the top three this week. decent matchups, and they are by far your most consistent players.

cleveland defense should be a great one. i picked them up in 2 of my leagues. any one playing carolina is pretty much golden as a top 5 DEF.

  7. Justin

heres my only question this week..

    pick 2

    mike williams (tb) vs ravens
    steven jackson vs broncos
    mario manningham vs jags
    steve johnson vs steelers

    • John K

I don’t help give advice on this site but I think that’s a no brainer….Jackson versus a horrible run defense that Tolbert from the Chargers just killed last week and Manningham–basically the only starting receiver left on the Giants–versus a horrible secondary in the Jags…

      • Justin

yeah thats what i was thinking.. but mike williams hasnt let me down yet.so its hard for me to sit him for anything more then a sure thing

    • this is actually a tough one for me.
mostly because its hard to sit any of these players.

      heres my thoughts.
mike williams has been pretty consistent, he’s going to get you points. he is the only offensive player that is really worth a damn on the bucs and the only receiver there that is generating any points. ravens are a tough matchup, but williams has done well against worse.
steven jackson is the workhorse, but hasnt had much production as of late. he is getting incluced in the passing game… oh yeah.. denver is the second worst run defense in the league. gotta play him.
mario manningham is the new favorite receiver in new york. smith and nicks are out. giants are playing the jags, a team that gets burned through the air weekly.
steve johnson has a tough matchup. he is the #1 in buffalo, but hard to make an argument for him this week.

i say go with jackson and manningham this week. huge potential for some big things.
